NEW HOLLAND ISLAND OPENS May 18th,2013

"New Holland Island" will OPEN on May, 18th 2013!

New Holland St Petersburg

New Holland Island in Saint Petersburg was created in 1720.
The triangular island took its name after a number of canals and shipbuilding facilities that rendered its appearance similar to Amsterdam.
In 2000 New Holland was opened to the public for the emplacements project (1997-2000), an art project created by artists Françoise Dupré and Roxane Permar with support from Russian artists, including Lyudmila Belova and Tatyana Nikolaenko, involving over two dozen artists altogether.

Nowadays, it's a microcosm of the wider city, a cultural ‘city within the city’ that sponsors a vast range of programs.
Here, visitors will find: Wolkonsky Café; the Open Library; a shop offering farmers’ produce and an organic community garden from LavkaLavka; an open-air concert space; the Leningradets Table Tennis Club; an art gallery; the Summer bike and parkour ramp; and much more.

This year New Holland will open it's summer season on May, 18th.

And it will be the last summer in Holland until 2016 due to the major reconstruction plan. So, don't miss it!
