Prior to the beginning of the tour the guide will pick you up at your accommodation and go with you by car/bus or by public transport to visit the State Tretyakov Gallery - one of the greatest museums in the world.

The Gallery collection was started by Pavel Tretyakov, the owner of a successful textile company, and became famous from the minute it was opened to the public in 1870. After Tretyakov’s death the gallery’s collection grew rapidly, especially after the October Revolution when museum collections were privatized: art was bought, donated or “transferred” from other museums, private collections, cathedrals and monasteries. The latest part of the collection, dating from 1950—1990, opened in 2000. Our tour will give you an enlightening insight into the masterpieces that adorn this gallery.
