MUSEUM FOR WOODEN ARCHITECTUR KIZHI
Kizhi is a small island on Lake Onega. It is home to a unique ensemble of wooden churches, chapels and houses. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Russia. You will see the 22-domed Transfiguration Church (1722) and 9-domed Intercession Church. The impressive thing about these structures is that they were erected without a single nail or other metal hardware. All the joints were made entirely of wood.
